About Us

Since his childhood James Taylor has had a fascination with nature and animals! Growing up close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park his parents would take him almost every weekend and that's when his love for nature began.

Around 2004 is when James got his first leopard gecko and he instantly fell in love with the way his gecko was so personable and loved to be held. He ended up getting a bearded dragon also and the reptile bug had bit him. He knew these wouldn't be the only reptiles he would have. Fast forward to 2010 and he started to realize that wild type leopard geckos weren't all that was out there, as a matter of fact there were many different colors and morphs so he started researching and decided that he wanted to breed his own leopard geckos. He started out slow with pet quality geckos just to make sure that it was something he could do instead of jumping all in. He worked his way up to better quality geckos and opened his first business and called it Tennessee Geckos. He specialized in breeding leopard geckos and selling feeders. Under the name Tennessee Geckos he started vending a few local shows and had a good online presence, but then he developed an allergy to mealworms and was working 70+ hours a week at his full-time job so he made the hard decision to close the business down.

Fast forward again to 2022 and he had been working in the construction field, but just wasn't happy. He knew he had to do something else and contacted his friend from the Tennessee Geckos days to see if he needed help with his gecko business, Gecko Junkie. Tristan Kaylor welcomed him with open arms and had grown exponentially in the last 5 years. Working for Gecko Junkie renewed his love for the reptile community and now he had a great mentor to help him along the way. Then Loco Geckos was born. He takes more precautions when dealing with mealworms now and has found a way to make it work. This time around he started his breeding program with some top quality geckos and works with Tremper and Bell Albinos, White and Yellow, Eclipse, and Mack Snow Genes. It doesn't stop at leopard geckos though. Loco Geckos currently works with leopard geckos and Underwoodisaurus Milii. With plans to expand gecko species in the future, Loco Geckos hope to start breeding leaftail geckos and other species of geckos in the coming years.

Loco Geckos hopes to be a one stop shop for gecko supplies and has already started developing different products to improve the keeping of geckos!
